Project: 6 kWp Q-Cells PV System CIGS Solar PV Mayo

Client:        U. Widmer
Location:    Co. Mayo
Description:    Q-Cells 6 kWp CIGS Thin Film Installation

This system, installed in 2011, is on a old house located in a town in Co. Mayo.

This project consists of the installation of 63 No. Q-Cells ‘QSmart 95w’ Framed CIGS Thin film solar Modules (5985 Wp total) with StecaGrid 2010+ (master + 2 slave modular inverter). The installation is grid connected.

The Solar PV modules are located on the south facing roof of the house. The slate roof has a 38 deg. Pitch and is un-shaded.

The inverter equipment is located in the hallway next to the sub-distribution board. It is estimated that the system will produce approximately 5630 kWh/year, generating more than the average house will use in a year. The owner of this system will also be able to sell excess electricity generated. See details on our Grants & Incentives page.

Notes:

The owner of this home runs a Geothermal Heat pump (primarily on night rate electricity). The credit / earning by selling the electricity produced and sold to the ESB (at 19c/unit) during the day, will be used to offset the cost of buying back night rate electricity as approximately half the price, to run the Geothermal Heatpump.

As the size of the system exceeded the 12m2 allowed under the planning exemptions, the customer had to optain planning permission from Mayo County Council before proceeding with the installation.
