Description:    Q-Cells 3.15kWp CIGS Thin Film Installation


This installation is on a new home located in Co. Mayo.

This project consists of the installation of 42 No. Q-Cells ‘SL1-75F’ Framed CIGS Thin film solar Modules (3.15kWp total) with SMA SB3000 inverter. The installation is grid connected.

The pv modules are located on the south facing garage roof space. The metal roof has a 30 deg. Pitch and is un-shaded.

The inverter equipment is located in the garage and wired to the sub-distribution board in the garage. It is estimated that the system will produce approximately 3085 kWh/year, representing approximately 60% to 95% of the estimated annual electricity usage for the house. In the first 5 month of operation, (December to April), the system has produced over 1050kWh of electricity, exceeding expected performance by about 11%. Notes:
This installation is one of only 12 PV installations under SEI’s Small and Micro-scale Generation Pilot Field Trials and the only thin film installation on the trials. - see www.sei.ie/Grants/Microgenpilot/. This installation’s performance will be independently monitored by SEI over an 18 month period.
The owner of this home has also installed a Solar Hot Water system, Heat Recovery Ventilation System and a Wood Log Gasification Boiler.
